Entertainment Weekly Magazine App Reviews

Entertainment Weekly

This is a great app! It mirrors the hard copy, plus additional online items.

Disappointing changes to the Digital version of EW

EW has discontinued the interactive features of the digital magazine. It was great to see trailers, photoshoots, or listen to snippets of songs mentoned in an article by clicking the link within the magzine. The current version of the digital magazine is boring in comparison.

Its like a magazine

It reminds me of the magazine Entertainment Weekly.

Not working 95% of times

Downloaded first digital issue and after that always getting network errors.

This app pushed 3 unwanted notification advertisements

A minute ago ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY magazine sent a notification that appeared on my lock screen: COZI is ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY’S favorite organizing app - back to school was never so easy to manage. Get the app, it’s free! First off, using notifications for advertising is against the app store guidelines. Second off, organizing has NOTHING to do with entertainment. Third, the casual indifference to the copy makes me suggest that Time Inc thinks that this sort of thing is appropriate. It is not. Update: I have gotten this notification three times today.

Some work needed

Please update the app to support the newer iPhones! Especially the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus.

Love it

Makes life easier to have the mag available. Well laid out and easy to read.

Great content, not a great experience.

I have always loved reading EW mag, and the experience only got more convenient with all of my unread issues on my iPad. But this app is just crazy slow. Even on my brand new iPad, each page swipe takes a second longer than it should. I would love for the developers to fix this so the reading experience was as good as the content!

Love

LoveThe inside info

Excellent app!!!

I love it!! Reading all about whats new on tv, movies and books. I really enjoy the reviews of tv episodes or suggestions of music.

The app tends to lie to you

I love EW, what I hate about the app is it lies. Tap to download the latest issue, the app will tell you the download is complete. Later? Try and read the magazine all you get is the cover and a bunch of blank pages. Check your library it now tells you the download was paused, so no you dont have the magazine. This happens on a 50/50 basis.

Useless

Offers *free* preview of the current issue but then it simply will not download/open. In fact, the app wont let me do anything but hit the buy button. I smell bait and switch. Oh well, Im very sure they wont cry over one lost customer.

Needs work

Not intuitive at all. Developers check out Sports Illustrated, Macworld or The Economist for best in class.

great apps

very to use and much better than the magazine

Good App

I have been very happy with this app. I got the digital magazine for free when I bought a gift subscription, and have had no problems with it. Enjoyed every issue!

Wish you could still read in landscape mode

App works well, magazine is easy to read. Clear symbols for scrolling down and within page. Wish they hadnt removed the landscape functionality.

No interaction

It used to be that the digital magazine offered movie trailers, music samples, etc. and thats what made it such a delight. Now you might as well read the print version. Its so disappointing since the old version was far superior. Perhaps it was due to copyright issues or a cost to provide the linked content? Whatever the reason, Im really not a happy camper!

What the heck happened?

Why does it take forever to restore purchases? I cant even read the most recent issue because it just stays stuck on Restoring Purchases. There should be an option to restore one year at a time. Fix it please.

App does not work on iPad pro

The app does not work on the iPad pro. It gets stuck attempting to restore prior purchases.

Id write a better review if my head wasnt tilted sideways.

Why does every almost great app developer shoot themselves in the foot and pretend they can still dance? Youve got this beautiful complimentary digital version of your must have magazine, but as soon as Apple makes an iPad large enough to want to read EW on I find out youve taken away the basic function that would allow users to do so hands free with standard iPad cases: landscape mode. Insanity.
